Mumbai Metro Line 3 Achieves 92% Underground Progress; Trial Runs Extended
MMRDA confirms safety checks on the Aarey to BKC underground section ahead of official public operations.
The Mumbai Metro Line 3 project, connecting Colaba to SEEPZ, has registered another critical milestone with over 92% of the underground civil tunneling and station works completed. Larsen & Toubro and Tata Projects, the primary contractors for multiple underground packages, have successfully mobilized finishing teams across terminal stations. The safety inspections are underway by the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS). Prime Minister Modi is expected to inaugurate Phase 1 of the corridor by early December. Capital expenditure has been revised slightly to accommodate delay claims due to land acquisition lags in Aarey colony.
